what kind of
EXCHANGE OF BLOWS
would the remontant Fury be?

•••

Left.
Left.
Left.
Right. Right.
Left.

Or better (southpaw stance):
Lead hand.
Lead hand.
Lead hand.
Striking hand. Striking hand.
Lead hand.

Or even better:
Straight lead hand.
Straight lead hand.
Divine hook lead hand.
Upward hook striking hand.
Divine hook striking hand.
...
Straight lead hand.

The remontant fury feints. She draws her energy from the ground and is delibarate. She  prepares her attacks from her calm. Her straight lead hands are just light time markers until the perfect moment arrives. Then she rushes in. Opens the opponent's guard with the divine hook from the lead hand, makes a lunge with her right leg, and is suddenly—so close—closer to the opponent than ever before.

Then she follows up with her stronger hand, the striking hand, landing an uppercut to the midsection and a divine hook to the head. Quick. Precise. And with the energy from her hips. She knows that strength does not come from the arms. And she knows that her lead hand, if not striking, always stays around her chin. For protection. And as a reminder that she exists.

To quickly move from close range back to long range, she makes an evasive move with her right leg, brings her left leg along, and follows up with a straight lead hand as protection against a counterattack. Now she is exactly where she wants to be again. In the center of the ring, at a distance – rooted within.

She came – she struck – and she remained. Through every round.
