The remontant fury would be an endodontic revision treatment of tooth 46.
When a tooth that had root canal treatment years ago causes pain, patients often don’t understand why a “dead” tooth can still hurt.
If not all canals were properly cleaned during the original root canal treatment, bacteria can cause new infections at the root tips. In that case, the old root filling has to be removed and the canals cleaned thoroughly, especially all the way to the root tip.
Tooth 46 usually has three root canals, but sometimes there are four or even five. One must be very attentive to find all the canals. It is often difficult to reach the root tip, especially if the root is curved or the canals are very narrow.
After removing the old root filling and flushing the canals, a medication is inserted into the canals.
Despite the medication, pain can still occur after the treatment. The tooth reacts “furily” to the procedure.
